Hop-On Hop-Off Gozo Stops
A guide to every stop on the route: what to see at the Citadel, Marsalforn, Xlendi, Ġgantija, and more.
All Stops at a Glance
The Hop-On Hop-Off Gozo bus serves a set of stops around the island. The exact list and order can vary slightly by operator and season. Below we describe the main stops you can expect: what to see, how long to allow, and how they fit into a day. You can buy tickets online and hop off at any of these stops, then rejoin on a later bus.
Victoria (Ir-Rabat) – Citadel
Victoria is Gozo’s capital. The bus usually stops near the main square or the Citadel. The Citadel is a fortified old town on a hill with museums, churches, and sweeping views. Allow at least 45 minutes to an hour to walk the walls and visit the main sights. The town below has shops, cafés, and the main bus station. Many visitors make Victoria their first or main hop-off point. Check the timetable for departure times so you can plan your visit.
Marsalforn
Marsalforn is a coastal village with a sandy bay, restaurants, and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a good stop for a swim, lunch, or a stroll. You can spend anything from 30 minutes to a few hours here. The bay is family-friendly and there are boat trips and diving options nearby. Combine it with Xlendi or Ramla if you want to see more than one beach in a day. The bus stop is typically near the seafront.
Xlendi
Xlendi is a small bay with a sheltered inlet, popular for swimming and diving. The village has a promenade with cafés and restaurants. It’s a compact stop: you can enjoy the view and a short walk in 30–45 minutes, or stay longer for a swim and lunch. The hop-on hop-off stop is usually near the bay.
Ġgantija Temples
The Ġgantija Temples are a UNESCO World Heritage site and among the oldest free-standing structures in the world. The bus stop is near the visitor centre. Allow at least one to two hours to visit the temples and the small museum. Entry is usually paid separately from the bus ticket. This stop is a must for anyone interested in history. Plan your time so you don’t miss the next bus.
Ramla Bay
Ramla Bay is known for its red sand and clear water. It’s one of Gozo’s most popular beaches. The bus stop is typically near the access to the bay; from there it’s a short walk to the sand. You can spend an hour or a full afternoon here. There are basic facilities and sometimes a kiosk.
Xagħra and Nadur
The route often includes villages such as Xagħra and Nadur. Xagħra is close to Ġgantija and has a pleasant square and views. Nadur is known for its views over the channel between Gozo and Malta. These stops are good for a short walk, a coffee, or a photo. Allow 30–45 minutes if you hop off. For the full route and bus times, see the route map and timetable.
